5 things customers look for on Google before they come to you

Man on the street looking at his phone

Before leaving home, almost everyone grabs their phone and searches for the place. Within seconds they decide whether to go, call, or look for another one. These are the five things they want to find right away:

  1. Today's opening hours. "Is it open now?" is question number one. Wrong hours on Google send a customer to a closed door, and they don't come back. Holidays count too.
  2. How to get there. The address with the right pin on the map. If you work from home or only deliver, say which neighbourhoods and towns you serve.
  3. A quick way to reach you. A WhatsApp button that opens the chat straight away is worth more than a number to copy.
  4. What you sell, and roughly what it costs. A menu, a list of services or products. Nobody likes asking the price of everything.
  5. Real photos. The front of the shop, so people recognise it, and your products. Well-lit photos from your own phone work better than stock photos.

What I do with this

On every site I make, these five things sit at the top, ready for the phone. And the site's opening hours are the same ones you keep up to date on your Google profile.
